About Me

My name is Joanna Thorne. I am a qualified and experienced BACP registered psychodynamic therapist. I can offer a safe, supportive space for us to explore your thoughts and feelings together.

Life can be hard and sometimes it can be helpful to share our problems with someone else. People seek counselling for many different reasons; perhaps you are struggling with a current crisis, or maybe experiences earlier in your life have resurfaced and are stopping you from living the life you want and deserve. You might be facing challenges in your romantic relationship or with your family members.

Some people have a sense of feeling stuck and are unable to move forwards in their lives, while others may have no idea why they feel angry, depressed, anxious or overwhelmed all the time; they just know they want to feel better and wish things were different.

I have worked with both adults and children addressing many different issues including: stress, anxiety, depression/low mood, gender and sexual identity issues, low self esteem/low self confidence, anger, bereavement and loss, family relational issues, sexual and domestic abuse, self harming, eating disorders and addictions.

I work from home in my consultation room, located in Cowes on the Isle Of Wight, which is discrete yet welcoming. My aim is to make you feel comfortable, safe, respected and heard. I am passionate about the power of therapy to change lives.
