What Is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy. It allows you, the client to explore and try to make sense of your difficult experiences in a safe and non-judgemental space. Being in therapy can help us develop healthier ways of thinking, behaving and relating to others.
Through building a good relationship with your therapist, you may feel more at ease in discussing difficult feelings or troubling thoughts. These thoughts and feelings may be recent, or you might have carried them with you for many years.
I offer shorter term counselling which is helpful for addressing one or two immediate issues in your life, or you may wish to have open ended, longer term therapy which allows you the time and space needed to go deeper into exploring your behaviours, thoughts and feelings. Either way, we work at your own pace.
As a therapist, I do not offer advice, or even attempt to ‘fix'; rather I work collaboratively with the client to facilitate an understanding and awareness of self, in order that they may feel empowered to make positive new choices in their lives.
I understand that taking that first step can be daunting, but if you feel that you’re ready to make positive changes in your life, you’d like to understand yourself better, or you’d just like someone to listen to you without judgement, then get in touch to book an initial consultation session.
